Juan Manuel Pajares
Juan Manuel Pajares is an artist who began his career painting in oils during the 1990s in Lleida. Over the course of his career, his style has evolved, progressively moving away from collage to develop a more gestural and contemporary visual language. His work explores the interplay between forms, textures, and figures through layers and spontaneous brushstrokes that invite a dynamic and profound interpretation.
In 2000, an exhibition at the Agora Gallery in New York's Soho district marked a turning point in his career, cementing his presence on the international art scene. Following this experience, gallerist Carol Jones took an interest in his work and introduced him to Atelier Art International in Harlem. This initial recognition led to exhibitions in various galleries and art fairs around the world.
Between 2005 and 2010, he worked with Galerie Thierry Veaux in France, combining contemporary art with antique furniture in an innovative dialogue that was very well received. At the 2006 St-Art fair in Strasbourg, a 200 x 600 cm piece of his was featured on the cover of the local newspaper, solidifying his success in the European market.
He has participated in numerous international fairs—such as AAF Hong Kong, AAF New York, AAF Brussels, Discovery Art Fair Cologne, and Cheapart Bonn—and has exhibited in galleries in Barcelona, Berlin, Madrid, and other cities. Recently, he has been featured at Art3F events in Marseille, Lyon, and Mulhouse.
Pajares’s work continues to evolve, with improvisation and experimentation serving as essential elements of his creative process. As he himself states: "I never know how I will finish a painting; I improvise. I am always looking for forms, textures, figures, and the connections between them." At Habit-Art Gallery, his work reflects this ceaseless quest, resulting in vibrant, high-energy compositions.
